At 054 Driving School, we turn nervous first-timers and frustrated re-takers into confident, road-ready drivers. Patient instructors, flexible schedules, and a curriculum built for New York's streets.
054 Driving School started with a simple frustration: too many people in our neighborhood were being turned away by schools that didn't have the patience, the flexibility, or the local know-how to actually teach them.
We're headquartered at 153 E 181st St in the heart of the Bronx, and we've spent years refining a curriculum that mirrors exactly what the NY DMV tests — and what you'll actually need on day one behind the wheel.
Whether you're a teen getting your first permit, a parent enrolling your child, or an adult who's been putting off that road test for years, we meet you where you are and take it from there.
From your very first time in the driver's seat to the moment you walk out of the DMV with your license — we've got a package that fits.
Never driven before? That's exactly who we built this for. We start with the basics — controls, mirrors, scanning — and build your skills block by block until you're comfortable on any NYC road.
We know the DMV routes, we know the common mistakes, and we know how to coach you past them. Our road test prep includes practice on actual test routes so you walk in feeling prepared, not panicked.
Teens need guidance, and parents need peace of mind. Our teen program covers everything from permit study to the road test, with regular progress updates sent straight to you.
Prefer an automatic? Want to master a stick shift? We offer lessons in both, so you can train in the transmission you'll actually be driving — no surprises on test day.
Got your road test scheduled at a specific DMV office? We'll practice on the exact routes you'll be tested on — so the examiner's turns feel familiar, not foreign.
Already have a license but want to sharpen your skills? Our defensive driving course covers advanced techniques that keep you safe in heavy traffic, bad weather, and unfamiliar neighborhoods.
We're not the biggest school in New York — and that's by design. We'd rather keep our class sizes small and our attention personal.
Every instructor is trained to go at your pace. No rushing, no frustration — just steady, supportive coaching.
Mornings, evenings, weekends — we work around your schedule, not the other way around. Same-day cancellations? We get it.
Our lessons are built around the official NY DMV test requirements, so you learn exactly what you'll be judged on.
We know every intersection, every tricky merge, and every DMV office in the five boroughs. That's a advantage you can't buy.
Real feedback from real students who trusted us with one of the most stressful milestones of their lives.
"I failed my road test once and was convinced I'd never pass. The instructor at 054 didn't just teach me to drive — he taught me to think ahead, stay calm, and trust myself. Passed on my second try."
"My daughter was terrified of driving. Within three lessons, she was parallel parking on Westchester Ave without breaking a sweat. The whole family is grateful — we couldn't be happier."
"I'm 42 and had avoided driving in the city my whole life. 054 made me feel safe and never judged. Now I drive myself to work every day. Best investment I've made this year, hands down."
We've streamlined the whole process so you can focus on learning, not figuring out what to do next.
